*HANDS-ON AND FORMAL TRAINING IN BIODYNAMIC AGRICULTURE*
Frog Belly Farm [FBF] is a 170 acre organic family farm in the foothills of Boulder, Colorado. FBF is converting to biodynamic methods and will become a Demeter Certified Farm offering locally produced eggs, meat, goat and cow milk, produce, herbs, and fruit on a membership CSA basis. The farm also offers educational programs, seasonal events, family festivals, volunteer/service learning opportunities, and regular bi-monthly classes in BD agriculture for the general community.
Jim Barausky, biodynamic farmer and gardener of 35 years and consultant to FBF, will train apprentices in all areas of BD small farm management including: market gardens, field crops, pasturing, beekeeping, herbs, animal husbandry, dairy, greenhouse and hoop house management, farm machinery and more. Jim has been an instructor in biodynamic agriculture at Naropa University and Warren Wilson College and has farmed in CO, CA, NM, NC, PA and Germany.
General Internship/Apprenticeship Information:
Interns work 40-45 hours per week, and participate in all aspects of the operation.
Internship starts Mid March- Mid December 2010
Number of Positions: 2-3
Housing: Interns share 2 bedrooms with shared bath and kitchen in Barn.
Work/Experience Desired:
Some gardening/farming experience is desired. Stipend of $200- $400 per month based on previous experience and demonstration of skill. Interns must be self-motivated with a strong work ethic, and a positive attitude. We require a firm 1 year commitment.
Education Opportunity:
This is a comprehensive intern program with full time hands-on work and regular coursework in Bio Dynamic agriculture. Training includes formal classes and study of Rudolf Steiner's agriculture course and other related texts. This position is ideal for those seriously interested in bio-dynamic, diversified farming on their own in the future.
